MEET JIM MORELLI

Helping Win Back the 81st...

The son of parents fiercely dedicated to their community, Jim Morelli comes from a proud conservative family who made their living and brought up their children in Southington for four generations.

Jim’s grandfather, Robert P. Morelli, was one of the 10 founders of the town’s Sons of Italy Club, an organization centered on community service and fellowship. Robert was a leader in the American Legion and UNICO (Unity, Neighborliness, Integrity, Charity, Opportunity) and passed on his love of Southington to his son, James, and grandson, Jim. In the Morelli tradition of service, Jim’s parents were directors of the Southington Association for Disabled Citizens and were heavily involved with the Republican Town Committee. Phyllis was a former Chair of the Republican Women's Club for many years.

A former Emergency Medical Technician, level four, Jim graduated from Central Connecticut State College with a Bachelor of Science in IT Manufacturing.

Jim is the father of three children: James III, 29, who lives in Tampa, FL; Charlie, 28, a Southington resident; and Jessica, 23, who lives in Melbourne, FL. Jim’s hobbies include cycling, golf, fishing, and spending time at the beach. He was baptized and confirmed at the former St. Thomas Church in Southington and was dismayed at its closure.

Committees & Resources:

Jim’s family instilled in him the importance of a close-knit community, one where people help each other and work together for the common good. He served as a Planning and Zoning commissioner for several years, and from 2014 to 2020, he was a member of the steering committee responsible for redesigning and updating the Southington’s Plan of Conservation and Development, a 10-year plan for Southington’s future. He has been a member of the Southington Town Council since 2019 and currently serves as vice chair. His committee memberships include the Emergency Medical Services Committee, Ordinance
Committee and Open Space Committee as vice chair. He also has been a board member of the Southington ARC, a nonprofit association serving the disabled, since 2015 and currently services as board president.
